Emiko Emi Ryals, 90, of West Columbia, died Saturday, January 9, 2016. Born in Tokyo, Japan, Mrs. Ryals met her late husband, Hoyett Ryals, of 51 years, after WWII. Emiko retired from Shakespeare Manufacturing after 30 years of service. She enjoyed singing karaoke with her friends, Japanese food, and being with family. She was a member of Joel Baptist Church.

Emiko is survived by her daughter, Jean Pritchard (Alfred); grandsons, Stephen Pritchard, Daniel Pritchard (Jami); great-grandchildren, Emma and Isabella Pritchard.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 13th at 11 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road, Columbia with The Reverend Kevin Rogerson, The Reverend Vernon Pritchard, and her son-in-law, The Reverend Alfred Pritchard, officiating. Internment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from five until seven o'clock, Tuesday evening, at the funeral home.
