Emily Sharpe Broach, 88, of Blythewood, SC passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19,2025. Born February 22, 1937 in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Freeman Sharpe Sr. and Thelma Sharpe. After graduating high school, she worked at Southern Bell where she met her late husband Albert Broach. They went on to have 4 sons and then moved to Blythewood. Once all her sons were in school she went to work at the Blythewood Post office where she worked for over twenty four years. She attended Sandy Level Baptist Church where she was a part of the Gleaners Sunday School.

To everyone else she was Emily, but to her family she was Granny. Granny always had a candy stash and everyone that came over went straight to it. She was always up for a game of cards whether it was Rummy or Go Fish with the great grandkids. She loved her family dearly.

Surviving are her sons Steve (Paula) Broach, Bill (Penny) Broach, Randy (Missie) Broach, all of Blythewood, and Freeman (Kim Robertson) Broach of Elgin; grandchildren, Jessica (Wes) Robertson of Elgin, Brandi Broach, Michael (Anna) Broach, Emily (Blake) Griffin, all of Blythewood; Brittany McGougan of Columbia, and Lindsey (Eric) Hood of Austin, Texas; as well as great-grandchildren, Cooper, Collin, Ford, Holland, River, Remi, Blakely, and Baby Hood due any day now.

Emily is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Broach, and brother Freeman Sharpe Jr.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Broach will be held at 11 o'clock, Tuesday, September 23rd, at Sandy Level Baptist Church, 408 Blythewood Road, Blythewood. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Monday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
