Eon Jared Mellitz, 45, of Irmo SC, died on Saturday, June 8, 2024. He was born to Richard and Diane Mellitz on January 11, 1979, in Fitchburg, MA.

Eon's passion for automobiles evolved into long career as a master technician, most recently employed by BMW.

Eon's generosity and graciousness extended far beyond a simple word. He made it a point to try and help others no matter what. He thought that if he could make a difference in someone's life, no matter how small, he had done his part in making the world a bit better. He was calm, funny, thoughtful, and intelligent.

Eon loved the outdoors. No matter the activity, he cherished the time he could spend outside. Whether it was hiking, rafting, or biking, he was for it. Even small moments were close to him, like a warm cup of coffee on the porch in the morning. His love of the outdoors was resonant and spread to others around him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Asher Mellitz (mother Braeden Noe); sister, Elisha Mellitz Byrne (Douglas Byrne), nephew Miles Byrne, his life partner, Valentina Quetglas; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The funeral service for Mr. Mellitz will be held at 10 o'clock on Tuesday, June 11th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC, with Rabbi Erik Uriarte officiating. Burial will follow in Hebrew Benevolent Society Cemetery, 714 Blanding Street, Columbia, SC. A livestream of the service will be available under "Current Webcast" at ShivesFuneralHome.com.
