Erma Wessinger Kaminer, 98, of Irmo, died Thursday, January 19, 2023. Born July 30, 1924 in Lexington, SC, she was a daughter of the late Walter Webster and Pansy Corley Wessinger.
For more than 60 years, Mrs. Kaminer assisted her husband in the daily operation of Kaminer Heating & Cooling. She wore many hats in the HVAC business, but was most instrumental in being the company secretary, treasurer, and bookkeeper. She was a founding member of WIC (Women in Construction), where she previously served as the organization's president. Mrs. Kaminer was a member of Lake Murray Presbyterian Church, was an avid reader, and enjoyed completing the crossword puzzles in the daily newspaper. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Lee Kaminer Derrick of Wake Forest, NC; son, Harvey Woodrow "Woody" Kaminer, Jr. (Sharon) of Little Mountain, SC; grandchildren, Tasha Mitchell (Heath), Joel Derrick (Carri), Todd Kaminer (Heather), Harvey Derrick (Zulaima) and Jay Derrick (Jenn); great grandchildren, Kody Kaminer, Parker Mitchell, Nina Kaminer(Connor Manning) , Ryan Derrick, and Connor Derrick; great-great grandson, William Trey Manning; step granddaughters, Marti Faglie and Laurie Grooms (Brad); step great granddaughters, Sara Beth Grooms, Kate Grooms, and Kerry Faglie, and her sister, Grace Boozer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Woodrow Kaminer, Sr.; sister, Carolyn Smith; as well as her son-in-law, Nathan Derrick.
The family will host a celebration of life for Mrs. Kaminer from 1 until 3 o'clock, Saturday, January 28th at Alodia's Cucina Italiana, 2736 N Lake Dr, Columbia, SC 29212. A private committal service will be held at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church, 2721 Dutch Fork Rd, Chapin, SC 29036.
