Ernest Frank Woodson, 63, of Columbia, died Monday, January 2, 2023. Born September 25, 1959, in Augsburg, Germany, he was a son of the late Johnny Frank Woodson and Gladys Catherine Melton.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 27 years as a supervisor for South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation. He was an avid sports fan who especially loved University of South Carolina football and the NFL. Mr. Woodson also enjoyed the occasional outdoor adventure with his two older brothers. One of Mr. Woodson's greatest joys was being his mother's caretaker for many years.

Survivors include his brothers, Charles Edward Melton (Ellen) of Columbia and Gerald Woodrow Melton (Mary Alice) of South Congaree; cousins, Teilah Shirley, Shirley Ann Lucas, and Ada Mae Smith; as well as numerous other extended family and friends.

The funeral service for Mr. Woodson will held at 2 o'clock Saturday, January 7th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Road Columbia, South Carolina, 29209.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at Shives Funeral Home beginning at 1 o'clock.
