Mrs. Ernestine "Ernie" M. Stroud, 88, of Columbia, died Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Born in Belleville, IL on August 12, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Marie Wanda Wolters Gain and Edward Ridges Gain.

She was a dedicated Christian who loved to read the Bible. She went to Bible Study and Fellowship for 8 years and she loved to study the living words of Jesus. She had been a member of Temple Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class since 2012, and she volunteered with the Sunday morning services at NHC Parklane. She loved Jesus and trusted him for everything. She worked as a dog groomer with Poodle and Pals for many years.

Ernie is survived by her children, Kenneth Jungclaus, Jonathan Jungclaus, and Melinda Greene; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Marie Martinez; and brother, Luther Gain.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Jungclaus and second husband, Joe Carl Stroud; daughter, Deanna Orr; sister, Chrystal Herbstreit; and brothers, Edward Gain, John Gain, and Billy Gain.

The funeral service for Mrs. Stroud will be held on Friday, April 26, at 5 o'clock, at Temple Baptist Church, 806 Universal Drive, Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 4 o'clock. Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery, 1101 Mascoutah Ave., Belleville, IL. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Temple Baptist Church.
