Eugene Melvin Varn, 76, of West Columbia, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Born in Lexington County, he was a son of the late John B. and Mary Sharpe Varn. A graveside service for Mr. Varn will be held 3:30 pm, Friday, February 1st, at Gibson Cemetery, Delree St, West Columbia, with The Rev. Jewel E. Jeffcoat and the Rev. Morris Chavis officiating.

Survivors include his daughters, Pearlie Brazell, Betty Jean Chavis, Betha martin, Martha Lloyd, Sandra Boykin, Patricia Varn; sons, Sonny, Jamie, Roy and Curtis Varn; and loving sisters, Frances, Lilly, and Louise Chavis. In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Betty M. Varn; daughters, Mary E. McAbee, Margaret Fay Wise; and son, Samuel Lee Varn.
