Hopkins – Evelyn Rebecca Drawdy Mims Burnett, 82, of Hopkins, died peacefully at her home with her children by her side on Monday, June 26, 2017. Born on November 21, 1934 in Horry County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Thomas William Drawdy and Mallie Lee Wilson Drawdy. Mrs. Burnett attended Eastover School and worked in Public Service for the Forrest Acres Police Department before her retirement from the Security Division at Providence Hospital. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all that she met. She was full of laughter, very giving, gentle and kind in everything that she did. Mrs. Burnett was a member of Horrell Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Marlene K. Entzminger of Elgin, SC; sons, Charles K. "Kenny" Mims, Jr, and Eddie H. Mims both of Hopkins, SC, nine grandchildren, Tonya and Chip Gardner, Ken (Carolyn), Israel, Thomas, Steve, Isaac, Nikki and Justin Mims; as well as 16 great grandchildren. Mrs. Burnett is also survived by a brother, Isaac R. Drawdy (Geneva) of Columbia, SC; three nieces; Melinda S. Green, Cathy Huffstetler and Golda Kuerti.


Mrs. Burnett's funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock, Thursday, June 29th at Horrell Hill Baptist Church, 920 Horrell Hill Rd, Hopkins, with The Rev Randy Moore and The Rev. Glenn Frye officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Wednesday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia.
