Evelyn Wilson Carter, 84, of Blythewood, died Thursday, July 12, 2018. Born on May 14, 1934, in Dentsville, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Laura Campbell Wilson. Mrs. Carter worked for many years as a supervisor in the housekeeping industry. She was the matriarch of her family and was a member of Full Salvation Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Barbara Ann Carter, Joyce Carter, Ernest Steve Carter, James Carter, Sammy Carter, and Eugene Carter (Mary Helen); as well as eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Carter is also survived by her siblings, J.H. Wilson, Lonnie Wilson (Pat), Vera Tubbs, and Nealer Dinkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Carter; son, Tally Gene Carter; as well as her brothers, Frank Jr., Leroy, Melvin, James, and Robert Wilson.
The service for Mrs. Carter will be held 2 o'clock, Sunday, July 15th at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. Burial will follow in Spears Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Saturday evening at the funeral home.
