Mrs. Evelyn Holsenback-Baker, 87, resident of Methodist Oaks, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013. She was the wife of the late Mr. Jesse Leonard Holsenback, who died in 1984, and she later married Mr. Charles Warren Baker, who died in 2009. Born in Pineville, NC on April 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Whitfield McCoy and Mary Hartis McCoy. Mrs. Baker was a dedicated employee of the federal government, and she served for many years at Fort Jackson. She was a former member of Pineville United Methodist Church and was a current member of Resurrection Lutheran Church of Cameron, SC. Most of all, she will be remembered as a caring and much beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her daughters, Rosie (Tracy) Poston of Cameron, Idette (Charles "Sam") Tucker of Florence; step-son, Charles "Sonny" (Gloria) Baker; grandchildren, Debbie Poston, Wayne (Lisa) Poston, Eve Tucker (Dan Brown), and Len (Seton) Tucker; step-grandson, Lee (Dianne) Baker; great-grandchildren, Linzee, Trey, Jordan, Miles, Jay and Sophie; step-great-grandson, Chase. In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Beckham.
A funeral service for Mrs. Baker will be held 2 o'clock, Friday, March 1, 2013 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Cameron, SC, with the Rev. Wade Thomas Roof III officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 12:30 o'clock, prior to the service. Burial will follow at 4:30 o'clock in the churchyard of St. Mark Lutheran Church, 105 Main St., Blythewood, SC. Memorials may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 8160 Old State Road, Cameron, SC 29030 or to the charity of one's choice.
