With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Evelyn Plakal, age 22, who left this world far too soon on April 18, 2026.
Evelyn was a bright and compassionate soul whose presence brought joy to everyone she met. Born on April 5, 2004, in Columbia, South Carolina, she grew into an exceptionally smart and beautiful young woman, known for her kindness, sweet smile, and adventurous spirit.
She graduated from Spring Valley High School and attended the Clemson University Honors College, where she was pursuing her dream of a future in medicine with determination and brilliance. To her family, she was known as “Kunjumani”—their precious little gem—beloved beyond words. She was kind, deeply caring, and had a way of making everyone feel seen and understood.
She is survived by her loving parents, Joshy and Reshmi; her brother, Elvin; her grandparents; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jose Plakal.
Forever loved, forever missed.
Memorial Service Information
A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 25th from 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 9720 Wilson Blvd, Blythewood, South Carolina, with funeral services and Holy Qurbana (Mass) to follow at 10:00 AM. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 PM at St.Patrick's Cemetery, 1200 Mason Rd. Columbia, South Carolina.
