Evelyn Hall Thames, 86, of Blythewood, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, with her sister by her side. Evelyn was born in Richland County, SC, and a daughter of the late Henry Elton Hall and Mary Sturkie Hall. She grew up in Blythewood and graduated from Blythewood High School.
Evelyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. While growing up in Church, she learned to play the piano. She could hear a hymn being played one time, and then she was able to play it by ear. She loved listening to gospel music.
Evelyn met the love of her life, Jerald Thames, and they were married for 27 years until his death in 1981. During their marriage, they lived in Rembert, SC and were members of Dalzell Baptist Church in Dalzell. After Jerald's death, Evelyn moved back to Blythewood. She joined Killian Baptist Church and was a member of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class.
Evelyn will always be remembered for her faith in God, her love for family, and her generosity. Whenever there was any kind of a need, she was always there to help out.
Surviving are her brother, Franklin Hall, and his wife, Carol, of Ridgeway; and her sister, Carolyn Hall Cribb, and her husband, Tony, of Blythewood. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Hall.
As per her request, the funeral service will be private as well as her burial. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
