Obituary

Everett G. Taylor, 85, of Columbia, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013. Born September 12, 1927 in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late George Gadsden Taylor and Myrtle Annie Phillips Taylor.

Mr. Taylor graduated from Columbia High School and attended Clemson College. A WWII US Army Veteran, he was a lifelong member of College Place United Methodist Church. After retiring from Bell South and AT&T, he loved to spend time wood working and fishing with his buddies at Sea Cabins Fishing Pier. No one enjoyed their family and friends as much as Everett. He loved his Clemson Tigers.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Clegg Taylor; daughters, Beth (Bill) Nettles of Camden, Becky (John) McCormack of Lexington; grandchildren, Taylor and Stephen McCormack as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Cromer Taylor; sister, Cynthia Goldson; step-father, Ben F. Walker.

A graveside service for Mr. Taylor will be held at 3 o'clock, Monday, February 18, 2013 at Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia with The Rev. Tiffany Knowlin officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of The Talking Book Machine Repair Group. The family will greet friends following the service at the graveside.
