Evlyn Julian McEvoy King of Blythewood, died on Wednesday, April 1. 2026. Born on September 29, 1946, Lyn was the only child of the late Julian and Evlyn McEvoy of Rockhampton, Australia. She and her late husband, Dr. Kevin King, were married on June 27, 1970, and spent more than fifty years together. They raised their family in Blythewood, where Lyn was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren: Sean, Adair, and Mac King; and Brian, Elizabeth, Alex, and Julia King, all of Columbia.
Lyn was a dedicated educator, earning degrees from the University of Connecticut, the University of Tennessee, and the University of South Carolina. She served as a Library Media Specialist at Richland Northeast High School for many years.
An active member of her community, Lyn was involved with the Blythewood Historic Society, the Blythewood Garden Club, and Richland Two retirees. She also volunteered at the Richland Library “book barn.” She was an avid gardener and baker who enjoyed tea parties and cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at The Palmettos and Heart of Hospice for their wonderful care.
In honoring Mrs. King's wishes no formal services will be held.
