Faye Berry Byrd, 81, of Blythewood, died Saturday, September 24, 2016. Born in Blythewood on August 28, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Lee and Dessie Fulmer Berry. Following her father's death in 1955, Faye joined the family business, B & W Lumber Company. Alongside her siblings, she was very active in the day to day operations of the business until 2013. She was lifelong member of Killian Baptist Church, and was a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club International, and the AACA Car Club.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Clifton Thomas "Tom" Byrd; a sister, Libby Berry Mattox; a brother, Steve T. Berry (Toni); sisters-in-law, Mildred "Dolly" Urdanick (Bill), and Renee Berry; brother-in-law, Dr. Larry Byrd (Corrinne); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy "June" Berry Gantt; and brothers, Joseph Lee "J.L." Berry, and Harry G. Berry.
A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Wednesday, September 28th, at Killian Baptist Church, with The Rev. Dr. E. Benjamin Newman, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Tuesday at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
