Faye Hartley Harris, 88, of Elgin, died Thursday, May 4, 2023. Born March 14, 1935, in Aiken, SC, she was a daughter of the late James and Virgie Elizabeth Wheeler Hartley. She was an honors graduate of Monetta High School in Monetta, SC and later graduated from Draughon's Business College in Columbia. Mrs. Harris enjoyed a long and successful career that spanned more than four decades with Southern Bell, BellSouth, and AT&T. She was a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church, where she was active in the Rejoicers Sunday school class and involved in various church activities.

Mrs. Harris enjoyed spending time in her yard, caring for her pets, and crocheting. She was known in her community for her caring disposition and quietly assisted many people in need and neighbors throughout the years. Her greatest joy in life was her family and she especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, John Mark Harris (Brenda) of Columbia; grandchildren, Pastor Herbert "Herbie" Harris (Stacy) of Lugoff and Correy Harris (Taylor) of Lexington. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren, Madison, Blythe, Caleb, and Cameron. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Hartley; as well as her sisters, Callie Shealy, Bertha Taylor, Grace Keisler, and Mary Pearl Holton.

The funeral service for Mrs. Harris will be held at 4 o'clock, Monday, May 8th at Spears Creek Baptist Church, 116 Spears Creek Church Ln, Elgin, SC 29045 with Pastor Greg Sweet, Sr., Pastor Marc Sanders, and Pastor Herbie Harris officiating. The burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the funeral service in the church sanctuary beginning at 3 o'clock.
