Florence Susan "Susie" Enlow, 81, of Lexington, died Friday, February 5, 2021. Born July 22, 1939, in Sumter, SC, she was a daughter of the late William and Florence McDonald Newman.
Mrs. Enlow was employed as a registered nurse for more than three decades. She earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of South Carolina School of Nursing. Mrs. Enlow helped serve her community by founding the Pelion Peanut Party and the South Carolina Princess Pageant. She served as the executive director of both events for more than 20 years. The successful leadership and public support during her tenure helped young women earn scholarships and raised essential funds for the Pelion community and schools. Mrs. Enlow cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. An advocate for women and children, she gave her support and volunteered for Sistercare, a non-profit organization in Columbia helping survivors of domestic abuse.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Melvin Douglas Enlow; sons, Chris Enlow (Michele) of Lexington and Mark Foxworth of Lugoff; grandchildren, Brianna Enlow, Magnus Enlow, and Emily Foxworth.
A funeral service for Mrs. Enlow will be held 2 o'clock, Tuesday, February 9th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC with Reverend Ralph Schneck officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Rd., Lexington, SC.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock.
All are invited to attend; however, masks and social distancing are required to create a safe environment for all.
