Flossie Shelley Kendall, 85, of Columbia, died peacefully at Providence Hospital Northeast, Friday, June 7, 2013, following a debilitating stroke. Born November 9, 1927, in McClellanville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Spurgeon H. and Sarah Cribb Shelley.
Flossie was a most loving mother and devoted wife. She had an unwavering faith in God. Flossie was an active member of the Jackson Creek Baptist Church from childhood and she cherished her membership in the Love and Joy Sunday School Class. For many years, she worked as the office manager for Kendall Elevator Company, which was founded by her late husband of 64 years, Ray Kenneth Kendall.
Surviving are her daughter, Janet Kendall; her sons, Carl (Doris Ann) and Bruce Kendall; two granddaughters; two grandsons; three great granddaughters; two great grandsons; sisters, Rebecca Newton of Columbia and Barbara Peake of West Columbia; one brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o'clock, Sunday, June 9th, at Jackson Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service for Mrs. Kendall will begin at 3 o'clock, with The Rev. Dr. Walter Mack Burriss officiating. A private interment service will take place at a later date at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.
