Foy C. Smith Jr.

Mr. Foy C. Smith Jr., 80, of Columbia died Saturday, June 20, 2026. Born September 7, 1945, in Columbia, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Foy C. Smith and Evelyn Crossland.

A graduate of Lower Richland High School, he served in the Navy on the USS Diamond Head. He also had a career as a race car driver and truck driver. In his free time, he loved to watch wrestling and racing cars.

Survivors include his daughters, Courtney R. Smith (Matt Bates) of Blythewood, and Pamela Smith Welch (Tony Welch) of Hopkins; sons, Christopher Brian Smith of Irmo, Foy Cleveland Smith of Hopkins, and Rion Scoville Smith (Caitlin Smith) of Makakilo City, Hawaii; brother, Larry Smith (Sarah); sister, Sandra Whetstone; 11 grandchildren with another expected; 8 great-grandchildren with another expected; numerous nieces and nephews; many more family members; and his loving partner of many years, Barbara Powell.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 6 to 8 at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd. Ext. Columbia, SC 29223.
