Laura Frances Hammonds Daniels, 76, of Columbia, died Friday, June 16, 2017. Born in Concord, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late James Lester and Velma Jane Drake Hammonds.
Mrs. Daniels, fondly known as "Scooter", graduated from Concord High School Class of 59. She was a member of Rose Hill Presbyterian Church, and was a multi-talented individual whose accomplishments included sewing, an award winning artist, framing pictures, professional groomer, wedding cakes, and calligraphy. She also volunteered at the USO lounge at the airport.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Dewey Daniels; daughter, Terry Fordham (Kip); son, Tim Daniels (Terri); grandson, Clif Fordham (Danielle); great-grandson, Coleton Fordham; great-granddaughter, Caroline Fordham; sister-in-law, Nadine Meadows; two unadopted children, Aaron Cleverly, Chad Deerlove; as well as many cousins and other relatives.
The funeral service for Mrs. Daniels will be held 1 o'clock, Monday, June 19th at Rose Hill Presbyterian Church, 229 S. Saluda Ave, Columbia, with Dr. Max Rogland officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
