Obituary

Frances Ann Gatlin Derrick, 89, of Little Mountain, died Saturday, September 23, 2017. Born July 19, 1928 in Reidsville, NC, she was a daughter of the late Eugene Stitt Gatlin and Alma Lee Petty. Frances was a graduate of Columbia High School, class of 1946 and a lifelong member of Eau Claire Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Choir.

Survivors include her sons, H. Joseph "Joe" Derrick, Jr. (Sharon), W. Randolph "Randy" Derrick (Annette), all of Little Mountain, and E. Forrest Derrick (Rhonda) of Johns Island; daughter, Leigh Ann Derrick Brown (Michael) of Chapin; grandchildren, Kevin Garner, Kathy Prijoles (Ernie), Kristi Atkinson, Stephanie Derrick Bradley (Bruce), Jonathan Derrick, Benjamin Derrick, Rebekah Carter (Mark), Adam Ross Derrick, Clark Brown and Melissa Brown; great grandchildren, Ashlyn Bracone, Alexis, and April Prijoles, Kayla and Mike Rabon, Samantha (Rocky) Linkhorn, Tristen (Brandi), Isaac and Cole Queen, Logan and Carson Derrick, Gabe King and Chandler Atkinson, Gatlin Dean Carter and Declan Finn Carter, Lily Scarlett Bradley; two great great granddaughters, Annabelle Sevarance and Myra Linkhorn; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Gatlin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert J. "Hub" Derrick, Sr. and siblings, Betty Jean Blackburn and Eugene Stitt Gatlin, Jr.

The funeral service for Mrs. Derrick will be held 2 o'clock, Tuesday September 26th, at Eau Claire Baptist Church, with The Rev. Steven Bouknight and The Rev. James A. Goudelock officiating. Interment will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church, prior to the service, beginning at 1 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, is assisting the family. Pallbearers will be: Kevin Garner, Jonathan Derrick, Benji Derrick, Adam "Ross" Derrick, Mike Rabon, Gabe King, Isaac Queen, and Cole Queen. Honorary pallbearers will be the Miriam Gross Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to Eau Claire Baptist Church Building Fund, 4427 N. Main St., Columbia, 29203
