Frances Annette Hunter

Frances Annette (Ann) Hunter of Columbia, SC, passed away on July 20, 2026 after a hard fight with liver and lung cancer.

Ann was born June 28, 1941 in Ft. Mill, SC, the daughter of Mary Bernice Holsenback McGuirt and John Henry McGuirt. Granddaughter of J.L. Holsenback and Sallie Mae Fulmer Holsenback of Ridgeway, SC, lovingly known as Mama Mae and Papa Jack.

Ann is survived by her son, Ken Reynolds (wife Meg) Sisters-in-law Joan McGuirt and Peggy McGuirt. She is survived by her nephews Stephen White-Berry, Jim McGuirt and Eddie McGuirt, nieces Andi Heineman, Susan Wilson, and Mary Lannan, cousins Idette Tucker and Rosie Posten (husband Tracey) and Eve Tucker. She is also survived by her Sisters-in-law Carol Jones (husband Gary) and Kay Monasmith.

Preceding Ann in death is her husband, Douglas Hunter, parents, grandparents, brothers Jesse Edward McGuirt and Donald McGuirt, and sister Lori Jean Sherman White.

Ann started working at the age of 14 in her hometown as a telephone operator. She went on to work in the federal government in Washington, DC where she was most proud of her work as Director working to enforce child and spousal support orders until she retired in 2001.

Ann moved back to Columbia, SC in 2013 after the passing of her husband Doug to be closer to her beloved family. She loved living in her neighborhood surrounded by wonderful neighbors who became good friends. She never met a stranger and was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Some of her hobbies were working puzzles (the harder the better!) researching her family ancestry and combing estate sales for that perfect piece to add to her home.
