A daughter of the late Arthur and Edith Logan Herman, she was born July 10, 1928, in Parkersburg, West Virginia. After graduating from Bryn Mawr College in 1950, she moved to New York where she worked for Charles Scribner's Sons, and it was while in New York she met Derial Calhoun Sanders Jackson. C. Flora, and Eau Claire High Schools. After her retirement from teaching, she served as a volunteer docent for Historic Columbia and Trinity Cathedral, and with Mary M. Kinard, co-wrote two books, A Silence After Trumpets: The Story of Sarah Buchanan Preston, and Remember the Year. She was a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, the Alliance Francaise, a former member of Forest Lake Club, and at Still Hopes led the Cercle Francais.
