Frances Jane Owings May, 91, of Columbia, went home to be with the Lord, November 14, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in Santuc, South Carolina on December 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Luther H. Owings and Eva Garner Owings.

Frances was a graduate of Union High School where she met the love of her life. She married Kenneth M. May October 8, 1953. They travelled where the Air Force sent them until they settled in Columbia, SC. Their union lasted 67 years as a testimony of their love and devotion to one another. Her greatest pride and joy were her daughter, Susan, and her granddaughter, Bailey who she affectionately called "my heart". Frances cherished her family and faith. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan May Vincent (Rev. Bob Vincent) and granddaughter, Bailey Vincent, and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth M May and brothers, Horace F. Owings, and Bobby Luther Owings.

The funeral service will be held 2 o'clock, Monday, November 17, 2025 at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mason Cantey officiating. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock.
