Frances Thain Sauls, 93, of Columbia, passed into God's loving and eternal care on December 29, 2014. Frances was born in Columbia, SC on February 13, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Mark A. and Ruth Guyon Thain and the wife of the late Benjamin Brown Sauls. She received her education in the Columbia schools and at USC. Frances led a life that was rich in friendships and complete devotion to her family. She and her husband were charter members of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church and were active as long as their health permitted.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Lee Sauls Embler (Paul); sister, Janet Thain Lane, all of Columbia; nieces, Jill King, Elizabeth Powers (Greg), Caroline Jenkins (Mike); nephews, Mark Archer (Jeannie) and Pierson Archer; grandchildren, Cindy Embler Sanders (Eddie), Susan Embler Reeves (Steven), Karen Embler Snyder (Jason); and great grandchildren, Jameson, Evan, Benjamin, Thomas, David, Ella, Anne Katherine and Braxton.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by her sisters, Elinor Thain Archer and Betty Thain Dial; niece, Betsy Dial Caldwell; nephew, Michael Robert Lane; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Mina Antley.
A graveside service for Mrs. Sauls will be held 11 o'clock, Wednesday, December 31st, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Ben, of 62 years. Services will be conducted by her great nephew, The Rev. A. Judson King and The Rev. Dr. Ellen Skidmore.
Her family wishes to thank the entire staff of Atria Forest Lake for the loving care she received while a resident there.
