Francis Dixon Eveleigh, Sr., of Columbia, died on Monday, November 21, 2022. Born in Clio, SC, he was a son of the late Kenneth P. and Ruby McDonald Eveleigh. Mr. Eveleigh was a member of First Baptist Church, Columbia, where he served as a deacon & usher. He loved Jesus, his family, baseball and the Carolina Gamecocks. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening in his free time. Following his military service, he owned several businesses, including The Saw Mill, where he made custom furniture and cabinets.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Kaiser Eveleigh; children, Mary Lee Eveleigh Hudson, Francis "Dixon" Eveleigh, Jr. (Leah), Margaret Eveleigh Rackley (Jonathan), Amy Elizabeth Cutchin and Nancy Cutchin Copa (Juan); grandchildren, Vanessa June Cain, Alexander Siervo Cain, Jessica Rackley Marvin (Kasey), Jonathan "David" Rackley, Jr. (Sarah), Kenneth James Eveleigh, Matthew William Eveleigh, Chanel Kayla Fraikin, Alexandra Anaïs Fraikin, Margaret Josephine Copa, and Christopher Guillermo Copa; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rachel Willis Eveleigh; second wife, Jane Hoskins Eveleigh; brother, Donald Edmund Eveleigh; and sister, Anne Eveleigh McLauchlin.
The funeral service for Mr. Eveleigh will be held at 4 o'clock, Sunday, November 27th, in Boyce Chapel of First Baptist Church, Columbia, with the Rev. Wes Church and the Rev. Richard Humphries officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Boyce Chapel. Burial will be at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
