Mr. Francis R. Pardee, Jr., 87, of Columbia, died on Friday, September 28, 2012. Born in Columbia, on November 3, 1924, he was a son of the late Francis R. Pardee, Sr. and Maude Lever Pardee.

Mr. Pardee served in the US Navy during WWII, in the South Pacific, on the USS Zeal, which was a mine sweeper. He later went on to become co-owner of Pardee's Refrigeration and Air Conditioning from January 1954 until June 1986. Mr. Pardee was a founding member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his daughters, Gloria (The Rev. William R. Bouknight, III) Bouknight of Columbia, Debra P. Metze of Blythewood, Jodi (Martin) Wilson of Lexington; son, Francis "Rock" R. Pardee, III of Blythewood; grandchildren, Brad, Will, Whit, Terri, and David; great grandchild, Landon Lee; brother, Charles R. (Bootsie) Pardee, Sr. of Prosperity. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pardee was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice "Bea" Culley Pardee; and grandson, Aaron Todd Bouknight.

A funeral service for Mr. Pardee will be held at 4 o'clock, Monday, October 1st, at Fair Lawn United Methodist Church, 9203 Wilson Blvd., Columbia, with The Rev. Scott Bratton officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 3 o'clock. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
