Obituary

Frank Costigan Hill, MD, 70, of Columbia, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016. Born in Miles City, Montana, on September 5, 1945, he was a son of the late Elisha B. "Pete" and Mary Frances Jensen Hill. Frank grew up on the PJ Cattle Ranch in Powderville, Montana, where he thoroughly enjoyed horses and the years of outdoor work. He also learned to work hard, a trait he carried throughout his life. There was never a task too large to be tackled. Frank attended a one room schoolhouse until he moved into Miles City with his mother, brother and sister for the school year. He graduated from Custer County High School in 1963 and from Montana State University in Bozeman in 1968. Frank went to medical school at the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado. He did an internship at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York and then went on to serve as flight surgeon at Fort Riley, Kansas. Frank's residency in ENT was completed at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. Upon his completion of army service at the Presidio in San Francisco in 1984, by God's sovereign grace, the family moved to join CENTA, PA in Columbia, where he practiced medicine for 32 years.

Frank and his wife Paula's passion was to honor Christ through serving and caring for the missionaries of First Presbyterian Church, whether at home or abroad. Frank was currently serving as the Chairman of the FPC Missions Committee and made numerous medical mission trips to Mexico and Uganda. He also mentored an ENT medical doctor in Egypt, served on the board of The Christian Hospital in Sahawil, Pakistan, and made annual trips to the hospital to do surgery.

Dr. Hill is survived by his wife of 42 years, Paula Maguire Hill; his children and their spouses, Naomi Hill Washington (Shahn) and Lydia Hill Duncan (Nate), all of Birmingham, AL, and Peter Kang Hill (Morgan) of Newberry; grandchildren, Nathan, Hannah, and Caleb Duncan, and Lillian Hill; siblings, Peter Jensen "P.J." Hill (Lois) of Bozeman, MT and Elnora Wolff of Missoula, MT; sister-in-law, Maureen Maguire of Mt.
