Frank Kistler, 69, of Columbia, died Saturday, August 20. 2022. Born May 23, 1953, in Pittsburg, California, he was a son of the late George W. Kistler and Maria Gast Kistler. Frank was a US Navy veteran and served his community as Police Officer until his retirement. He was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church where he volunteered in the food pantry. Frank was a member of Dentsville Masonic Lodge No 398 AFM where he reached the rank of Master Mason in 1996. He was a loving and devoted son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who fiercely dedicated himself to those he loved and left every life he touched with powerful memories.
He is survived by his daughter, Patty Boatwright; grandchildren, Laura Corley (Jared), Kaitlyn "Dani" Kistler, and Kennedy Boatwright; great grandchildren, Starnes Corley and Amelia Corley; and his brothers, Eugene Kistler (Guong), George Kistler (Susan), William "Bill" Kistler (Sherry), and Patrick Kistler (Renee); as well as countless nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amy Marie Kistler; grandson, Spencer A. Shirey; brother, Nathan Kistler, and a niece, Amanda Jared.
The memorial service for Mr. Kistler will be held at 5 o'clock Wednesday, August 31st at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service beginning at 4 o'clock.
The committal service with military honors for Mr. Kistler will be held at 3 o'clock, Wednesday, October 12th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC.
The family would like to express a special thank you to his dear friend, Jeanette Burch, who held a special place in his heart and provided so much selfless care to him in his time of need.
Also, to the Amedisys Hospice staff who provided not only superb care, but much needed compassion and understanding to Frank and his family.
