Franklin "Frank" Edgar Evans, 85, of Columbia, SC, passed away May 28, 2024, after a short illness. Born in Mullins, SC on Oct. 4, 1938, he was the son of the late Mildred Jane Baxley Evans and Sprunt Edgar Evans.
He was the Truck Shop Supervisor for 46 years at Richtex Brick, later Hanson Brick. After retiring, he worked part-time at Truck Supply delivering auto parts. Mr. Evans was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, and spending time with family. He was always willing to help anyone in need and never met a stranger. He was a member of the First Seventh Day Adventist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Evans.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Mildred Edwards Evans; daughters, Rhonda (Craig) Dukes of Knoxville, TN, Stephanie (Jerry) Greenhill of Gilbert, SC; four grandchildren, Victoria, Chandler, Logan Dukes and Kadyn Greenhill; sister, Audrey E. Landers of Columbia, SC; and nieces.
The memorial service for Mr. Evans will be held on Saturday, June 8th, at 2:00 PM at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 PM. A private interment service with military honors will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park & Funeral Home, Lexington, SC.
