Frederick Glenn Turpin, 66, of Columbia, died Monday, January 13, 2013. Born in Columbia on February 19, 1947, he was the son of Thelma Jacobs Turpin and the late John Gilbert Turpin. Mr. Turpin was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He was a long distance truck driver, and loved seeing the wide open country as he traveled.

Survivors include his mother of Columbia; son, Michael (Glenda) Turpin of North Charleston; sister, Lana Turpin Ott of Columbia; and niece, Johanna Ott of Clinton.

The funeral service for Mr. Turpin will be held at 2 o'clock, Thursday, January 16th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia, with The Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock. The deacons of Harmony Baptist Church are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Turpin's cousins will act as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens.
