Frieda Baum Wells, 86, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021.
She was born August 14, 1934, in Wiesbaden-Bierstadt, Germany, a daughter of the late Carl and Frieda Kaldwasser Baum. She was the widow of Marvin Francis Wells, United States Army (Retired), who preceded her in death. Prior to her retirement, she worked in food service at Fort Jackson. Frieda enjoyed worshipping at First Baptist Church of Columbia for several years. She was well-respected and loved by many who considered her a mother figure, an aunt, a neighbor, or a friend. Frieda was fiercely independent, honest, sincere, caring, and giving. She had a great sense of humor and joyous, loud laugh. Frieda was always grateful for the little things in life and content just to be able to live out her years on her terms in her own home, surrounded and comforted by the many angel figurines that watched over her.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, and other beloved family in Germany, as well as many friends in South Carolina.
The graveside service for Frieda will be held 2 o'clock Friday, May 7th at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Rd, Columbia, SC.
