Obituary

Furman William Hoopaugh, 83, of Blythewood, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Born in Blythewood on August 28, 1930, he was a son of the late James D. and Ora Lee Trapp Hoopaugh and was a veteran of the US Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Cooley Hoopaugh; daughters, Judy Arnold, and Mary Gilwee and husband Roger all of Blythewood; granddaughters, Kristen Olson of Blythewood, and Barri Thompson and husband Lance of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Jacob Olson, Lola and Gussie Thompson; brothers-in-law, Johnny Cooley, and George Kinard of Blythewood; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his loyal dogs, Fred and BoBo.

A memorial service for Mr. Hoopaugh will be held at 1 o'clock, Thursday, December 5th at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12 o'clock. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Drive, Suite 301, Cayce, SC 29033 or to Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 AC Skinner Pkwy, Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
