G. Glenn Meadows, 63, of Columbia, died at home Tuesday, June 2, 2015, after battling cancer for some time. A memorial service will be Monday, June 8th at 5 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 4 o'clock.
Mr. Meadows was the son of the late Paul L. and Thelma Branham Meadows. He is survived by his spouse, Mr. C. Carl Turner; a sister Pauline Brooks (Louie) of Wagner, SC; nephews, Nicholas Nesbit (Ruark) of Charlotte, NC, and Jeffrey Nesbit; a niece, Erin Brooks Miller (Zeke) and multiple grand nieces and nephews.
Glenn enjoyed a long career in healthcare and nursing, which was his passion. He spent a total of 20 years working for the Sisters of Charity of Saint Augustine Providence Hospitals. For many years Glenn worked as an LPN and then obtained his RN license after graduating from the USC School of Nursing. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business from Southern Wesleyan University and a graduate degree in business from Webster University.
Glenn's career included ICU, ER, and surgical nursing. In 2004 he and his partner, Carl, moved to Morrisville, VT where Glenn was hired as Chief Nursing Officer for Copley Hospital. Glenn was also chief nurse at Physician's Medical Center in Santa Fe, NM, and most recently Director of Surgical Services at Providence Hospital Downtown.
