Gary Stanley Padgett, Sr., 71, of Hopkins, died Tuesday, January 3, 2023. Born June 24, 1951, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Laury Whitman and Virginia Livingston Padgett. Gary worked for Albritton Tree services for 16 years, Pulliam Ford for 20 years, and lastly for Dollar General for 12 years.

He is survived by his girlfriend of 34 years, Peggy F. Wilson; sons, Gary Stanley Padgett, Jr. (Cheryl) of Gaston, Brian Wilson Padgett (Christina) of Gaston, and Jamie Michael Wilson of Pelion; grandchildren, Brandon Padgett, Matthew Shepherd, Quincy Shepherd, Michelle Barrett, and Brianna Padgett; brothers and sisters, Barbara Corley, Johnny Padgett, Ralph Padgett, Leon Padgett, Brenda Bush, Steve Padgett, Marty Padgett, Willie Padgett; special aunt, Sarah Lou Getz; as well as special friends, Pam, Sandra, Melissa, Chris, Rivie, and Agnes. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Shawn Wilson; and his sisters and brothers, Gloria Padgett, Ernie Phillips, Paul Padgett, David Padgett, and Judy Hicks.

A visitation will be held from 5 until 7 o'clock, Thursday, January 5th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
