Gary Gene Speigner, 87, of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Born September 18, 1928, in Geneva, AL, he was a son of the late Gary N. and Nancy McGowan Speigner. Mr. Speigner served in the US Navy, retired from the US Air Force, and later retired from the US Postal Service. Affectionately known as "Mr. Gary", his hobbies included anything electronic, carpentry, gardening, and flying small airplanes.

Survivors include his daughter, Karen Malloy (Patrick); granddaughter, Tracey Rooney (Curtis Clapp), great-granddaughter, Eilee Clapp; and sister, Doris Bedsole. In addition to his parents, Mr. Speigner was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Lucille Jalbert Speigner; daughter, Susan Rooney; sisters, Edna Adams, Gladys Weeks, and Carol Trim; and brother, Rex Speigner.

A visitation for Mr. Speigner will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016, beginning at 1 o'clock, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. A private service will be held at a later date at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
