Gary D. Stevens, 57, of Elgin, died Monday, January 14, 2019. Born September 23, 1961 he was a son of Richard and Shirley Davis Stevens. Gary loved sitting in the sand at the beach by day and seafood buffets by night. He enjoyed classic rock and roll and working in his yard. He liked going to the arcade and was a true outdoorsman. Gary was a loving husband and father who always provided for his family.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Brittany Stevens; brother, Dennis Stevens; sister, Jeanine Wilkerson (Bobby); sister-in-law, Charlene Martin (Joey); a niece, Megan Martin; great-niece, Cheyenne Hudson; as well other nieces, nephews and cousins. Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lee "Ginger" Stevens; and a nephew, Joseph "Joe" Martin.

A funeral service for Mr. Stevens will be held 12 o'clock, Saturday, January 19th, at Jackson Creek Baptist Church, 7778 Two Notch Road, Columbia. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11 o'clock in the church sanctuary. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is in charge.
