Gaye Alexis Mallis, 66, of Columbia, SC, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Born May 9, 1960, in Richmond, Virginia, she was the daughter of Dorothy Bilbiles Mallis- Spanos and the late Dr. Alexander James Mallis.

Gaye was a 1978 graduate of Patrick Henry High School (Roanoke, VA) and continued her education at The University of Virginia, graduating in 1982 with a degree in Economics and French. Following college, she began an accomplished career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where she served as an Intelligence Analyst for 34 years before retiring in 2017. Her career reflected her dedication and commitment to civil service.

Beyond her professional life, Gaye had a wide range of interests and passions. She enjoyed food, fashion, and design and was an avid reader. Her Greek Orthodox faith was an important part of her life, where she was a member of the choir, the Daughter’s of Penelope and Philoptochos.

In addition to her mother, Dorothy Mallis-Spanos, Gaye is survived by her brothers, Jimmy Mallis and his wife, Veneta, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Tommy Mallis and his wife, Caroline, of Columbia, South Carolina; her niece, Alexis; nephews, James, Christopher, Alex, Jonathan, and Angelo; and cousins, Lynn LaPrad, Karen Pacyna, and Tommy Bilbiles.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Roanoke, Virginia with Father Theodore Lyketsos officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 30 Huntington Blvd. NE 24012, Roanoke, VA.

Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, of Columbia, South Carolina and Oakey's Funeral Service of Roanoke, Virginia are assisting the family.
