Gene Calvin Jones, 79, of Columbia died on Monday, February 20, 2023. Born in Richland County, on September 19, 1943, he was a son of the late Clarence and Viola Tucker Jones. Mr. Jones worked for Fort Jackson Army Base for many years and was a member of Killian Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sister, Linda Jones Simmons (Kraig); daughter, Alyson Jones Wells; as well as nieces, nephews and numerous extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Jones; sister, Barbara Ann Senn; and brother, Willard Jones.

A graveside service for Mr. Jones will be held at 11 o'clock, Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Killian Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbia. A brief visitation will follow the service at the graveside. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
