Obituary

Mr. George Mayfield Kinard, Jr., 85, of Blythewood, died Friday, January 9, 2015. Born September 7, 1929 in Aiken, SC, he was a son of the late George Mayfield Kinard, Sr., and Florence Olive Kinard.

A member of the Masonic Lodge in Blythewood, he was a painter before becoming a machinist with General Electric. Mr. Kinard loved fishing, music, and his many animals.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan K. Young (Harry); son, Alan G. Kinard (Melissa); daughter, Carmen H. Swindler (Joseph); grandchildren, David Young (Tracy), Melissa Cahoon (Randy), Emily Pauley (Dougie), Brittany Kinard, Sarah Kinard, Wilton Godwin (Suzanne), Alesha Henderson (Steve), and Jessica Lyn Swindler; great-grandchildren, Delany Jewell Young, Grayson Drew Young, Gable Stanton Cahoon, Jase Aaron Pauley, Kayla Henderson, Wesley Henderson, and Payton Godwin; sister, Betty Grice; and brother, R.E. Kinard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kinard was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Hoopaugh Kinard.

A graveside service for Mr. Kinard will be held 1 o'clock, Wednesday, January 14th, at Memorial Gardens of Columbia. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia.
