George Magnus Nye, 82, of Columbia, SC, passed away on July 21, 2024. Born on October 2, 1941, in Raymond, Washington, he was the son of the late George Manuel Nye and Edna Udd Nye.

He was a member of the Saint Andrews Road Church of Christ, where he faithfully attended church services and the senior bible study. He often counseled all ages of people and led them to Christ. He was an airplane draftsman with Boeing aircrafts after attending 2 years of college in Seattle, Washington. His typical work involved sheet metal fabrication, including roles at various companies. Since the age of 16 years old, he enjoyed being an automotive mechanic in business for himself, helping his family and friends when he could. He also was an avid NASCAR fan where he enjoyed cheering on his favorite racers. He will be remembered as a loving husband, wonderful brother, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, two brothers, Bill Nye, and Jimmy Nye.

He is survived by his wife, Georgiana Mooneyham; three sons, Stian Nilsen, Kristen Nye, and Erik Nye; two daughters, Tonja King, and Elisa Johnson as well as a sister, Verona Latta.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC 29203, at 1 o'clock. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service for family and friends to gather. Interment will be held following the service at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family has invited everyone to a luncheon following the graveside service, at Saint Andrews Road Church of Christ, 425 St Andrews Rd, Columbia, SC 29210.
