Georgia Ann "JoJo" Duensing, 69, of Columbia, died Monday, November 17, 2014. Born in Columbia on January 29, 1945, she was a daughter of the late E.W. "Bill" and Mary Campbell Duensing.
Georgia was a long time member of New Heights Church (formerly Colonial Heights Baptist Church), where she served as church secretary, Sunday school teacher, G.A. and Acteen leader, and sang in the choir. After graduating from Eau Claire High School, she attended the University of South Carolina, earning an Associate's Degree in Consumer Science. Miss Duensing worked as an Administrative Assistant for SC DHEC, where she retired after 34 years.
She is survived by her sister, Billie D. (Herb) Wofford of Blythewood; brother, Craig (Jane) Duensing of Columbia; nephews, Christopher (Alice) Wofford of Blythewood, Scott Wofford of Rock Hill, Bryan Duensing of Columbia; a niece, Mary Rebecca Duensing of Houston, TX; great-nephews, Harrison and Shane Wofford; great-nieces, Olivia and Laura Campbell Wofford; and a sister-in-love, Minnie T. Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Laura Elizabeth Duensing.
The memorial service for Miss Duensing will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday, November 20, 2014, at New Heights Church, with The Reverend Michael L. Townsend and Dr. Myles R. Beck officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, beginning at 1 o'clock. A private burial in Taylor Cemetery will precede the service. The family suggests memorials be made to New Heights Church, 5501 Broad River Rd, Columbia, SC 29212, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd Ste. #100, West Columbia, SC 29169. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Agape-Kathwood Assisted Living and Agape Hospice for their extraordinary care this past year.
