Gerhard Walter Noesner, 61, of Columbia, died Friday, November 11, 2016. Born November 12, 1955 in Ashtabula, Ohio, he was a son of the late Frederic and Rosina Noesner, who immigrated to the United States from Austria and Hungary respectively.
The family moved to Athens, GA in 1969, where Gerhard grew up. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1977. After college he moved to South Carolina where he later met and married Nancy Geiger. He was a loving and devoted husband to Nancy and father to Christian. He had the joy of later becoming a grandfather to three precious boys; Cullen Belter, and twins, Jasper and Brooker Noesner, who all loved him beyond words. He grew up pulling for the University of Georgia Bulldogs, who he considered the best football team hands-down. He was a kind, loving, generous man, and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Geiger Noesner; son, Christian Noesner (Lauren); stepsons, Chad Belter (Morgan) and Chet Belter; an uncle, Roland Noesner; brother, Werner (Pam) Noesner; grandsons, Jasper and Brooker Noesner, and Cullen Belter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother Harold Noesner.
A funeral service for Mr. Noesner will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, November 19th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. The burial will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 7 o'clock at the funeral home.
