Gerron C. Cunningham, 45, departed this life on January 2, 2026, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the son of Edith Cunningham and Maurice Wimberly. He was born on
November 24, 1980.
He attended St. Martin De Porres Catholic School, St. Joseph's Catholic School, and graduated from Dreher High School. He played soccer for many years with the YMCA and St. Joseph's. He was a member of the Blue Devil football team at Dreher. He was an alter server at St. Joseph's for many years. His favorite sports teams were Clemson University and the Green Bay Packers. He was employed as a quality control worker at American Solid Woven in Columbia.
Left to mourn his passage are his mother, Edith Cunningham; brother, Terrainio Cunningham; sister, Christie Cunningham; nephews, Emmanuel Cunningham and Christian Cunningham; his companion, Sabrina Archie; and a host of extended family members and his beloved cat, "One Eyed Willie". Mr. Cunningham worked in the textile industry and loved sports, especially when Clemson and the Green Bay Packers played. He always enjoyed a good card game, his favorite being a game of spades. As an organ donor, hopefully he has brought hope to others needing the Gift Of Life.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gerron will be held Monday, January12, 2026 at 11 o'clock at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 3600 Devine Street, Columbia, SC. Additionally, there will be a celebration of his life held at 4 o'clock, on Sunday, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with a visitation to follow until 6.
