Gertrude "Trudy" Boan Fulmer, 75, of Columbia, died Sunday, April 30, 2017. Born in Chesterfield County, South Carolina on December 6, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Eva Brock Boan. Trudy was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church and retired as a Surgical Nurse Manager. She graduated from S.C. Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. Trudy served as the treasurer of the S.C. Baptist Hospital Nurses Association for many years, an organization instrumental in providing scholarships for many nursing graduates. Trudy worked as an Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager and Project Coordinator for Lexington Medical Center and retired to be a full-time Nana. Later she worked part time at Southern Surgical Group and Employee Health at Lexington Medical Center where she retired a second time. Trudy lived her life ministering to others and will be remembered for her servant's heart.
She is survived by her husband, Donnie C. Fulmer Jr.; daughters; Karen Fallaw (T'Wayne) and Susan R. Fulmer; grandchildren, Cpl. Taylor Fallaw USMC, Aidan Fallaw and Cade Fallaw; also surviving are her brothers, Levern Boan, Ronnie Boan, Freddie Boan and Reggie Boan.
A celebration of life for Mrs. Fulmer will be held at 1 o'clock Friday, May 5th at Riverland Hills Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Phillips officiating. Burial in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery will be private. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd, Irmo, SC 29063.
