Gilda Ventresca Berardo
Columbia: Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Gilda Ventresca Berardo, 82, of Columbia, died at home on Thursday, November 15, 2012. Born on May 6, 1930 in Introdacqua, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Argilio Ventresca and Nilda Berardo Ventresca. Gilda married Charles D. Berardo on February 19, 1954 in Wurzburg, Germany, and they shared a long and prosperous life together; first as a military family, and then in the local civilian community.
Gilda is survived by her husband, Charles D. Berardo; sons, John C. Berardo and his fiancé, Anne Keats of Saudi Arabia, and Carlo A. Berardo and his wife, Linda A. Smith of Lexington; daughter, Elisa Berardo Rose and her husband, Ken of Indiana; grandchildren, Richard Berardo, and Daniel, Bernadette, Andrew, and Catherine Rose; brother, Florideo Ventresca of Venezuela; and numerous nieces and nephews who are mourning her passing around the world. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Pasquale Ventresca.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Berardo will be held at 10 o'clock, Monday, November 19th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3600 Devine St, Columbia, with The Rev. Fr. Matthew Gray officiating. Final Commendation and Farewell Prayers will be said at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia, Sunday afternoon from 4 until 6 o'clock.
