Gladys Welch Winter, 90, a beloved wife and devoted mother passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Born on June 21, 1934, in Chester County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Rogers Patrick and Mary Lou Love Patrick. Mrs. Winter's life revolved around her faith and her family. She was a member of Shandon Baptist Church and treasured every moment with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Rita Whitesides (Joel) of Rock Hill, SC, Jeannie Fuller (Rev. Chip Fuller) of Columbia, and Pam Carr (Rev. Dr. Stephen Carr) of Goose Creek, SC; her grandchildren, Mary Frampton Whitesides, Emily Catherine Bowen (Jake), John Fuller (Mallory), Caroline Fuller, Matthew Carr (Jeanne), and Catherine Tekac (Tyler); great grandchildren, Beau Bowen, Millie Blake Bowen, James Carr, and Esther Carr. She also leaves behind her stepsons, Rev. Robert Winter (Ann) and Steve Winter (Stacy); step grandchildren, Jonathan Winter (Alice), Michael Winter (Danni), Keith Winter (Lauren), Katherine Coleman (Trey), and Katelyn Howard, as well as their respective families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, W.L. Welch, Jr. and Albert Louie Winter, Jr.; step daughters-in-law, Debbie Winter and Melanie Howard, and step son-in-law, Paul Howard.

The celebration of life for Mrs. Winter will be held at 2 o'clock, Wednesday, April 9th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia, SC.

The family will receive guests at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock.

A private burial will precede the celebration of life at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Mrs. Winter's personal caregiver, Shelly Johnson, as well as the staff of NHC Healthcare, Lexington.
