Glenn E. Smith, Sr., 72, of Pelion, SC, died Sunday, July 9, 2023. Born January 22, 1951, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Manley Leroy and Mary Louise Cook Smith. For the past two decades Glenn owned and operated GE Smith Painting. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially when he had the opportunity to go fishing or grill. Glenn loved to host family and friends for large gatherings and will be remembered for always making sure that his guests enjoyed his cooking before him.

Survivors include his children, Glenn E. Smith, Jr. (Donnette) of Leesville, Brian Smith of Leesville, and Kenneth Smith of Gaston; current wife, Patricia Smith, grandchildren, Zayne Murphy, Alec Smith, Tyler Smith, Paige Smith, Gage Smith, Dillon Smith, and Nichole Smith; great grandchildren, Jaxson Murphy and Avery Murphy. He also leaves behind his siblings, Roy Smith, Carl Smith, Mary Paxton, Deborah Potter, Cathy Burgess, and Mark Smith (Sandi); former wife of 28 years, Brenda Gail Woodruff, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, other extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Smith; sister, Paula S. Baker and brothers-in-law, Mike Potter, Benjamin Paxton, Sr., Phil Burgess, and Thomas Baker.

The funeral service for Mr. Smith will be held at 1 o'clock, Saturday, July 15th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. Burial will immediately follow at Kelly Cemetery, 1500 block of Kathwood Dr., Columbia, SC.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Mrs. Brenda Gail Woodruff, Miss Haley Baker, and the staff of Heart of Hospice for their exceptional care of Mr. Smith.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 12 o'clock.
