Gloria Lynn Johnson-Key, 69, of Elgin, SC passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on July 20, 1953, she was a daughter of Ange A. Johnson and the late Gilbert F. Johnson. Gloria was the loving wife of 23 years to Christopher Todd Key. Gloria attended Brunswick High School in Brunswick, Maine.
In 1998, she met future husband Christopher Todd Key in Jacksonville, FL. They were married in St. Augustine, FL in March of 1999. Over the next 23 years she would live in four different states ( Florida, New Jersey , Georgia and South Carolina ) due to her husband's job. She was a true animal lover who cared for her pets including dogs, cats and birds. Along with her own animals she fostered multiple animals over the years including chihuahuas to pit bulls. In each of the states that she lived in over those years, she volunteered to assist in various animal rescues. While living in Georgia, she worked with a local no kill animal shelter to give cats and dogs a second chance with new homes. In South Carolina she worked with some friends to assist in getting multiple feral cats spayed / neutered and rescued multiple feral kittens. Her love of animals was a life long passion.
Gloria enjoyed spending time traveling with her husband. Whether going with her husband on business work trips or camping at beach front campgrounds or KOA cabins. She really enjoyed going to the ocean especially Myrtle Beach and the River Walk in Savannah.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survided by her sisters Kimbley K. Johnson and partner Paul LeBlanc of Phippsburg, Maine and Tambra A. Moore and her Husband Trent Moore of Fremont, Michigan. Her children Tiffeny A. James and husband Steven R. James and son Dennis G. Tibbetts and wife Tanya Brown-Tibbetts of Rumford, Maine. Four neices and nephews, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Along with her father, she is preceded in death by her son William D. Grondin.
