Gloria Coutsos Wise, 71, of Columbia, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Born September 13, 1941, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late John G. and Inez Newton Coutsos. A graduate of Eau Claire High School and the University of South Carolina, Gloria went on to teach at Lower Richland High School and retire from Richland District I. She also retired from the McNair Law Firm. An active member of Eau Claire Baptist Church for over 40 years, Mrs. Wise served as Adult Ladies Sunday School teacher and church treasurer. She was also active in community service as a member of the Optimist Club, where she had served as their president. Gloria spent her retirement years tutoring middle and high school students at Eau Claire Baptist Church.

Survivors include three aunts; one uncle; and many cousins. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin F. Wise.

The funeral service for Mrs. Wise will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, March 15th, at Eau Claire Baptist Church, with The Rev. James A. Goudelock officiating. Burial will follow at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, beginning at 10 o'clock.
